Aaron Storck--Channeling Wizard--Posing as Artist

ARTIST STATEMENT AS POEM 2012

I work through my process with my materials in 2012. I contrive characters and costumes and build all sorts of things, then take videos and shoot photos of what I do. I write poems and speak language and perform into video camera or for crowds -- I work in the computer. With the computer I create songs, I edit video, and I manipulate my shots in Photoshop. I print my digital compositions on different pieces of paper and collage them to canvases. I get into the painter's process HEAVY. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, I utilize my philosophy throughout my practice.

When I'm in the gallery I get into some real installation process. I also display the videos and paintings that I've created. It becomes an experiment for the all-together-medium-expression; A HOLISTIC PRACTICE, whose products go together well or stand on their own well.

Aaron Storck as Artist, posing as Wizard. Artist as expression of Universe. All kinds of expressions of poor thought and stupidity exist in the Universe. Is art valuable like science -- or is art more close in value to masturbation? Lying characteristics of ridiculous wizard shaman character serve as foil for artists' great dreams of value for their profession.

I belive and I don't believe. I want to make change and shift, I mimic the world around me. I want to inspire skepticism as well as delight in the viewer. I MAKE ART ABOUT THINGS THAT I FIND TO BE PROBLEMATIC, MYSTERIOUS AND EXCITING.
